In an electrostatic grounding system, each grounded part of the electrical installation shall be connected to the grounding main via a separate grounding conductor. It is prohibited to connect several grounded parts in series on a single grounding conductor.
Lightning protection grounding—a reliable lightning protection system—must include at least three key components: external protection, internal protection, and overvoltage protection. Among these components, proper connection and grounding are critical elements. An important aspect of lightning protection engineering is the grounding system and the wiring of down conductors; the overall effectiveness of the lightning protection system—and even whether the lightning protection devices themselves function properly—depends entirely on this aspect. The grounding system represents the most challenging yet crucial component in lightning protection construction. Due to varying environmental conditions, the design of grounding grids can differ significantly. The grounding work for a lightning protection system primarily consists of grounding electrodes and connecting wires that form the grounding network. Several factors influence the effectiveness of grounding, including soil resistivity, the selection of grounding electrodes, corrosion resistance of grounding materials, and the rational layout and configuration of the grounding network.
